A statue of soap in Cavendish Square, known as ‘Sweet William’ to the English, ‘Stinking Wullie’ to the Scots, and ‘ The Butcher of Culloden’ to both, is crumbling as Scotland votes on independence.
On September 18th The Royal and Ancient Golf Club in Saint Andrews, Scotland will vote on finally allowing women into its hallowed club. [September 18th is also the date of the Scottish Independence referendum.]
